About

The desire of Syro Malabar Catholics in and around Sulthan Palya, Mannarayanna Palya, Kavalbyrasandra, Ganganagar, Chamundinagar etc. to have a place of worship in their own rite for effective and full participation in the liturgical services was translated into a movement when the Claretion Fathers gave the moral and spiritual support during 1989.

Subsequently, the first ever Holy Qurbana in Syro Malabar rite was celebrated on the Christmas day of 1989 by Rev. Fr. George Nedumpalakunnel at Ayyappa School, Munireddy Palya in which about 400 people participated. Thereafter, regular Sunday Masses were celebrated in the Holy Ghost Prayer Hall. Soon, a society by name ‘Blessed Alphonsa Charitable Society’ was registered in 1991.

With the assistance received from the Claretion Congregation, a land measuring 8000 Sq. Ft. was purchased in 1991 at Sulthan Palya. A small but beautiful church was built with the assistance of parishioners and Claritions, which was blessed by His Excellence Mar Jacob Thoomkuzhy, Bishop of Thamarassery in April 1993.

An adjacent plot of land measuring 4000 Sq. Ft. along with built up area of 4 large rooms was purchased in 1999. The church was raised as a parish by His Grace Ignatius Pinto, Archbishop of Bangalore on 02 June, 2000.
